Volleyball Picks Up First Win of the Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -
The Lady Bison volleyball squad blanked Norfolk State, 3-0 to
pick up its first win of the season during action at the Comfort
Suites 49er Classic.
Howard fell 3-1 to host UNC
Charlotte on day one of the tournament and later dropped
a 3-0 decision to Youngstown State before blanking NSU in its
final match on Saturday.
The Bison got a team-high nine
kills from Gazelle d’Artois in the win against the Spartans. Taylor
Johnson contributed a team-high 11 digs while setter Grace
DeMichelis fell one dig shy of a double-double, finishing with 16
assists and nine digs.
In the loss to Youngstown State,
Martin had eight kills and five digs to go along with a match-high
two service aces.
DeMichelis tied the match-high with
her teammate and added two service aces while adding 27 assists,
four digs and four kills.
Martin had her first collegiate
double-double (13 kills, 10 digs) in the tough match against the
49ers. d’Artois added 10 digs, five kills, two block assists and
one service ace.
Howard (1-6) returns to action on
Wednesday against George Mason. Match time at Burr Gymnasium is
slated for 7 p.m.
