ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University football team helped to welcome back students on the first day of class at Sheep Harney Elementary School as a part of the “Million Father March” event.

The Million Father March emphasizes the importance of fathers playing a role in the educational lives of children, stating that when dads do so, children perform better in school. The event encouraged fathers to walk their children to school with Monday being the first day of class.

So on Monday morning Sheep Harney students were also greeted by the Viking football players and coaches before the start of the school day. Additionally ECSU players and staff signed a pledge agreement, promising future volunteering activities with the students of the elementary school.
