Baton Rouge LA - The Southern University soccer and volleyball teams had to cancel their weekend contest due to the damage from Hurricane Gustav.

The Lady Jaguars soccer team was to participate in the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawk Classic women’s soccer tournament. But because of eight inches of rain, flash flooding in the area and complications from other participating schools head coach Stacy lamb of ULM decided to cancel the event.

SU will have to wait until September 12th for their next scheduled contest.The Blue and Gold volleyball team had to cancel their Saturday home opener against Dillard University because of students absence at both universities. The next chance for the 2008 home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th versus Southeastern University. Game time is set for 7:30 pm in Seymour Gymnasium.
