Atugonza Makes All-Tournament in Season Opening Losses in California
Defensively, Alabama A&M’s men’s soccer team played well in its two season-opening games in California, but the offense sputtered and left the Bulldogs with 2-0 defeats to Cal-State Fullerton and Cal-State Northridge on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Rogers Atugonza was the lone Bulldog named to the all-tournament team.
GAME 1 - CSU-Fullerton 2, Alabama A&M 0
The Bulldogs outshot the Titans 5-4 with shots on goal, but A&M could not find the back of the net. Fullerton’s first goal came on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute, and then the Titans sealed the game in the 71st minute.
Paul Musoke made two saves for the Bulldogs.
GAME 2 - CSU-Northridge 2, Alabama A&M 0
In a game similar to the season opener, A&M managed double digit shots (10), but could not convert one to a goal. Northridge scored late in each half to ice the game.
Musoke again was solid in goal with four saves.
