SID BLOG: EAGLES EARLY MORNING PRACTICE

Written by Oralia Washington, Assistant SID

After hoisting the nets and wheeling out three carts of volleyballs, 11 women took the court at McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium early Tuesday morning.

Practice began at 5:30 a.m. as the Eagles honed their skills. The Eagles will continue the three-a-day practices through out the month as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The members of the volleyball team wore maroon T-shirts with “One Heart” written in grey letters across their backs. The team worked on setting, hitting, and passing drills.

Conditioning in preparation for the season is just one part of the first day of practice. Another aspect that was just as important for the Eagles is the bond they develop.

The intensity of women’s college volleyball is high; players are competing among themselves to win a starting position on their team. Everyday these student-athletes push themselves 100 percent.
