Howard Takes Down VMI in Season Opener
WASHINGTON, D.C. -
Rachael Lee scored the game winning goal in overtime as Howard
defeated VMI, 1-0 in the women’s soccer home opener at Greene
Stadium.
The victory gives the Bison its
first win of the season and improves them to 1-0. The loss
puts the Keydets at 0-1.
Lee scored the unassisted game
winner at 90:46. The Canada native was instrumental in
the Howard victory and took all three of her
attempts in the second period to pull HU within striking distance
of the Keydets, who outshot the Bison 17-10.
Goalkeeper Jessamyn
Perkins picked up six saves in the victory while Heidi
Beemer took the loss for VMI.
Howard returns to action on Sunday
with a non-conference matchup at home against Radford at
2pm.
