GRAMBLING STATE TO HOLD FOOTBALL MEDIA DAY ON SATURDAY
Selected members of the Grambling State University football team will take part in GSU’s annual football media day on Saturday, Aug. 23 beginning at noon in the Robinson Stadium Support Complex on the campus of Grambling State.
Under the direction of second-year head coach Rod Broadway, the Tiger football team opens its season at Nevada on Saturday, Aug. 30 at8:05 p.m. (CST) Grambling, which advanced to the 2007 SWAC Championship Game, was picked to finish first in the west during the annual SWAC Preseason Poll.
In addition to the football media day, members of “Project Let Me Read”, a New Orleans-based service project, will also be on hand. “Project Let Me Read” is a campaign designed to generate funds and books to stock the shelves of public school libraries in New Orleans. Fans of the Grambling State Tigers are asked to bring a book(s) to each home game and prior to the Bayou Classic, the books will be transported and presented in New Orleans for donation to the libraries either during the annual Bayou Classic Press Conference or Coaches Luncheon.
The project is spearheaded by City of New Orleans Councilmember Cynthia Hedge-Morrell along with Louisiana State Representatives Richard “Rick” Gallot, Avon R. Honey and Jean Paul Morrell. The campus coordinator for Grambling State will be Valencia Clemons (Grambling State University).
