Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University soccer team will open the 2008 regular season on Friday, August 22nd at 6:00 p.m. The Nicholls State University Lady Colonels will serve as the first opponent in the home opener.

“We played exhibition game earlier and seen some things we needed to work on,” said head coach John Knighten. “We were able to add some things to our offense and defense from that experience.”

The first 10 people to enter the event with a flyer, that was handed out by the players, will receive a free Lady Jaguar soccer nation t-shirt.

Last season Nicholls took a 1-0 win from SU after the Lady Colonels Michelle Branscome scored the only goal of the game on a break away at the 56th minute.

The game will be played at A. W. Mumford stadium and is free and open to the public.
