Lady Tigers Soccer fall to Northwestern State in exhibition…

NATCHITOCHES, LA - Two second half goals from Rose Lawrence and Kayla King broke a scoreless first half tie and helped lead Northwestern State to a 2-0 win over Jackson State in women’s soccer exhibition action on Tuesday.

The game was played in NSU’s Turpin Stadium after heavy rains forced the contest from the Demon Soccer Complex.

Lawrence’s goal came in the 51st minute on a breakaway down the middle of the field as she scored from 75 feet out.

King made it 2-0 NSU in the 64th minute on an unassisted goal.

Three goalkeepers - Lindy Strahan, Amanda Vines, and Sam Furlow, combined to shutout JSU.

NSU outshot Jackson State 21-6 and had eight shots on goal. All of the Lady Tigers’ six shots were on goal with Strahan saving four and Vines two.

JSU will open its regular season this weekend as the Lady Tigers will host the 2008 President’s Cup
