PIERCE AND PAYNE TO 110 HURDLE SEMIS IN BEIJING
BEIJING – David Payne, under the tutelage of Hampton University women’s track & field coach Maurice Pierce, won his second-round heat in the 110-meter hurdles Tuesday night in the Summer Games of the 29th Olympiad at the National Stadium.
Payne won his race with a time of 13.24. It was the third-best time posted in the second round.
The top three finishers in each second-round heat, along with the top four remaining times, will advance to Wednesday’s semifinal round.
Payne won his first-round race on Monday with a time of 13.42, which was the sixth-best time posted in the six heat races. The top four finishers in each of the six heats, along with the eight top remaining times, advanced to Tuesday’s second round heats.
The final will be held Thursday night.
