DURHAM, N.C. - Alejandro Espitia, a nationally-ranked men’s tennis standout from Bogotá, Colombia, has signed a national letter of intent to attend North Carolina Central University and compete in the Eagles’ tennis program.
Espitia began playing tennis at the age of nine and brings to NCCU a wealth of experience from playing in international events. He advanced his game to the point of earning a national ranking as high as No. 4 in May of 2007, and is currently ranked eighth in Columbia.
“Eagle tennis is soaring to new heights and the additions of quality student-athletes like Alejandro Espitia symbolizes our commitment to building a world-class program,” said NCCU Director of Tennis and Men’s Tennis Head Coach Curtis Lawson.
Espitia, who plans on majoring in business at NCCU, completed his high school studies at Colegio Fontán in 2007.
