Johnson C. Smith Football: First Practice in the Books
The Johnson C. Smith University 2008 football season is officially underway as the team held its first football practice today. For two hours today, players practiced in helmets and shorts, 22 days shy of the season opener under the lights at Aggie Stadium.
“Today was a good day,” said fourth-year head coach Daryl C. McNeill, Sr. “Everyone is being introduced or reintroduced to our routine and our ways of doing business. I am pleased with our guys and look forward to them getting better each and every day.”
Alums, staff members and a few “old heads” showed up for the first day of practice. Everyone wanted a glimpse of the 2008 edition of the gold and blue.
“The guys were ready to hit the field,” stated senior quarterback and co-captain Carlton Richardson. “Camp is tough, especially with the heat, but we are gelling as a team. Everyone is having fun.”
The Golden Bulls will return to practice tomorrow, Saturday, August 9th at 3:30 pm on the practice field. The 4th Annual Festi-BULL will be held on August 23rd from 6-8 p.m. at the Stadium.
