SAVANNAH, Ga- Savannah State head baseball coach Carlton Hardy announces the signing of 13 student-athletes, including six pitchers.

The Tigers have signed OF Antonio Scott, RHP Bryce Stokes, 3B Taylor Lamb, 2B Darien Campbell, OF Bubba Green, C Chris Smith, 2B/RHP Chris Lawlor, SS Blaise Woods, RHP Randall Chambers, RHP/OF Dustin Todd, 3B Dychal Bowles, RHP Joe Jackson and 3B/RHP Shawn Gallagher.

"I am very excited about the 2008 class of baseball players attending Savannah State University. We were able to find some talented student-athletes who have succeeded both in the classroom and on the playing field," said Hardy. "I believe we added much needed athleticism to our program. Our emphasis this year was to find more depth on our pitching staff and I think we did that with this class," he added.

Scott (Avondale HS/Decatur, GA) batted .576 , had 34 hits, scored 32 runs, 13 runs batted in and hit three home runs. He was first team all-county, first team all-area as well as team most valuable player as a junior and a senior.

Stokes (Redan HS/Lithonia, GA) had a 4-2 record, 2.36 earned run average and 14 saves. In 29 innings, he struck out 24 batters. He won the pitching award as a senior and was the baseball academic athlete of the year.

Lamb (Salem HS/Conyers GA) had a .347 batting average with 12 RBI, five doubles and one home run. He won the coaches award and served as team captain.

Campbell (Colleton County HS/Cottageville, SC) batted .365, stole 11 bases and hit two doubles.

Green (Calvary Day HS/Pooler, GA) hit .351 for his career, had a .684 on base percentage and a .448 slugging percentage. He hit 44 doubles, 11 triples, two home runs, scored 163 runs, drove in 70 runs and stole 74 bases. As a senior, he was the student-athlete of the year and was a All-Greater Savannah honorable mention.

Smith (Heritage HS/Conyers, GA) hit .330, had 19 RBI, scored 17 runs and hit two doubles.

Lawlor (Jenkins HS/Savannah, GA) had a .307 batting average, 25 RBI and hit two homers. He served as senior captain and won the silver slugger award.

Woods comes to SSU from Detroit, MI where he played at Cass Tech HS.

Chambers (Gallatin HS/Bethpage, TN) posted a 6-3 record with a 2.83 ERA. he had 43 strikeouts in 38.2 innings pitched. He won the pitcher of the year and made the all-county team.

Todd (Gallatin, HS/White House, TN) batted .428 with 28 RBI and two home runs. On the mound, he had a 2.78 ERA and struck out 35 batters in 32 innings pitched. he was a member of the all-county, all-district and all-region teams.

Bowles (Shiloh HS/Snellville, GA) batted .289, scored 15 runs, drove in 11 runs and hit three home runs. As a pitcher, he pitched 19 innings, struck out 15 and had a 3.38 ERA. He won the academic award, pitching award and coaches award.

Jackson comes to SSU from Feather River Community College in Quincy, CA. The 6-7 Jackson is a native of San Pablo, CA.

Gallagher (Henry County HS/McDonough, GA) batted .428 with 26 RBI, 14 doubles, 12 stolen bases, five home runs and two triples. On the mound, he pitched 46 2/3 innings and posted a 3-1 average. he had 16 saves and 32 strikeouts. He was team captain, first team all-region as a infielder and 2nd team all region as a pitcher.
