Howard University Football Field Gets Makeover
WASHINGTON, D.C. - When the
Howard University football team opens the 2008 season against
Georgetown University on September 6, there will be a new look in
Greene Stadium. The old artificial grass surface has been
replaced with a new Sprint Turf.
The surfaces are similar, both having a sand and rubber base,
but the new surface is an improved version that is very similar to
natural grass. The old surface was installed in 2001.
The team, which reported for practice on August 8, will have a
chance to break in the new surface in two-a-day practices which
start on Tuesday, August 12.
The Bison will host the Hoyas in the first-ever meeting between
the two institutions on the gridiron. Kickoff is scheduled
for 1 pm.
