TEEL NAMED TO USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
NEW ORLEANS – Hampton University track & field athlete Kevin Teel was named Wednesday to the All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Teel (Bowie, Md.) came in 17th in the NCAA Outdoor East Regional meet at Florida State on May 31, finishing the 100-meter dash in 10.61. The rising senior also helped the 4×100-meter relay team place 10th in the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Teel, who majors in electrical engineering and is also a running back on the Pirates football team, ran a season-best third in the 100-meter dash at the Morgan State Legacy Meet April 18-19. Teel ran a 10.63, while teammate Aaron Anderson won the event with a 10.58.
To be named to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlets must accumulate a 3.25 GPA and meet the NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying times during the indoor or outdoor seasons in their respective events.
