SOUTHERN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL RELEASE THEIR 2008-2009 BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
Baton Rouge, LA - The Southern University women’s basketball team released their 2008-2009 basketball schedule today for their 32nd season in NCAA basketball.
“It is always exciting when we start a new year,” said coach Pugh. “The excitement of another season always brings a smile to my face.”
The Jaguars will start things off at home with an exhibition against Dillard University. Then Wiley College will come to Baton Rouge and serve as the first opponent for the Blue and Gold in regular season action. For their first road contest SU will travel to Natchitoches, LA to take on Northwestern State University.
SU will end their November schedule with a trip to Chicago, Illinois to participate in the DePaul University tournament. Joining them will be the University of Hartford and Duke University.
The two games of December will be back at home in the friendly confines of the F. G. Clark Activity center. The University of South Alabama will visit on the sixth while the Lady Cowboys of McNeese State University will make their way to the capitol city on the ninth. SU will take their first flight of the month to Boulder, CO to face the Lady Buffalos of the University of Colorado on the twelfth. Southeastern Louisiana will see the Blue and Gold on the seventeenth while the twenty-first will serve as they final non-conference date on the schedule. A straight flight to sunny Tampa Bay, Florida for a game versus the University of South Florida will end the 2008 year for Southern.
The Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule kicks in on January 3rd with Texas Southern University as the first challenger.
Coach Pugh has totaled a 208-110 career record, a 132-99 SU record and a 95-50 SWAC record. The former All-American will be looking for her 100th SWAC victory.
