WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams basketball team completed its 2008 recruiting class with the signing of Jillian Charlet from New Washington High School in New Washington, Indiana. She becomes the sixth member of the WSSU signing class joining Elizabeth Maas (Clemmons, NC), Shatara Jackson (Wilmington, NC), Porsche Harrell (Fayetteville, NC), Jordhan Peterson (Norfolk, VA) and Chloe Morse (Sumerduck, VA).

“We are pleased to end our recruiting season with the signing of Jillian Charlet,” Coach Dee Stokes adds. “Jillian is one of those typical Indiana kids who can shoot the ball but plays the post position.”

A 6′0″ forward, Charlet averaged 13.9 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game during her senior campaign. She scored a career-high 33 points against conference rival South Central in January. She earned All-Area and All-Sectional honors in addition to being a four-year All-Conference player and a member of the New Washington 1,000 Point Club.

“Jillian was an inside presence and threat for us, but she was versatile enough to go to the perimeter if we needed her to do that as well,” said New Washington coach Terry White. “Her ball handling skills and shooting ability allowed us to use her not only as a post player, but a perimeter player as well.”

Charlet will round out a talented class of Lady Ram signees that will carry on the rich tradition of WSSU women’s basketball.  

“We again are thrilled with this class and look forward to great things from each of them both academically and athletically,” Stokes added.
