JSU’s Johnson named Pre-season All-American

JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State senior cornerback, Domonique Johnson, hasbeen named to the Phil Steele’s 2008 Pre-season All-American team.

Johnson, a 6-2, 200 pound native of Texas City, Texas, was also named aPreseason All-SWAC second team member. Last season he recorded a team highfive interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. Johnson finishedtied for 20th in the NCAA (FCS) in interceptions and third in the SWAC. Hewas second in the SWAC in passes defended and recorded a team high 14 passbreak ups. Johnson also tallied 22 tackles including 18 solo tackles.

JSU opens the 2008 season on Sunday, Aug. 31 when the Tigers take on theHampton University Pirates for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge at the Citrus Bowlin Orlando, FL. The game will be shown on ESPN2 at 1 pm.
